How will Deenabandhu select projects for funding?

Deenabandhu's project selection philosophy is based on the fundamental principle of maximizing the impact of every contribution. Every project funded by Deenabandhu needs to fit in with the mission and vision of Deenabandhu. The project should not discriminate based on gender, caste, race, religion or language and should be a non-political, not-for profit organization. Apart from the above mandatory qualities expected out of every project, the project selection team has a set of qualitative criteria which will ensure the effectiveness of the project in accomplishing its goals. Deenabandhu makes a concerted effort to select small to medium-sized projects. Deenabandhu believes that ultimately the community should become a part of the solution and therefore looks for projects which reflect that approach. Our monitors, who are stationed in India conduct in-depth research and analysis on each proposed project along with our volunteers before making a final recommendation for funding. Every project goes through several iterations of questions and answers between the selection team and the project manager. The competence of the organization requesting funding is established through annual audited reports, reference checks, pre-funding evaluations performed during volunteer visits, in addition to critical appraisal of their detailed project proposal. How will Deenabandhu monitor projects?

Deenabandhu plans to use uses two means to monitor projects: 1) project visits done by our board members in India, 2) volunteer visits and extensive communication with the projects. Our full time monitoring staff in India and U.S.A will make regular project visits and document every visit in a detailed project visit report. In addition, volunteers from outside India (UK, USA, Singapore, and Middle East) will visit the projects for an in person review during their visits to India. These efforts will be combined to ensure the quality of the project. All donors are welcome to visit the project sites and see themselves how their donations are making a difference to the lives of underpriviledged children.

Yes! Deenabandhu encourages donors and volunteers to visit projects. Please visit our Visit a Project page and send us an email with the requested details. Deenabandhu values your feedback from your projects visit and will utilize that as part of the project monitoring reports.
