Babar Ali School Project Team

In the past 8 months we have been putting together a team - just people from all walks of life - who are looking to bring their own ingredient to the mix.  Each person has been moved by Babar’s story and wants to do something about it, beyond contributing funds.

The core team involved in the school’s construction comprises:

Saibal Mitra: President, Deenabandhu - Also known as the head honcho.  He has the final say in all things Deenabandhu.  Period!

Almitra Patel: Planning and Oversight of School Construction. 70 years young and with no intention of slowing down, Almitra brings immense experience and a strong dose of ‘can-do’ to the project.  Read more about Almitra here: http://www.almitrapatel.com/biodata.htm#

Sakti Das: Advisor, Operations.  Sakti, a Professor Emeritus of Urology, has vast prior experience in not only building, but running schools in rural areas all over the world. We want Babar’s school to serve the community for a long long time to come.  And Sakti is here to help us ensure that is the case. Read more about Sakti here:   www.foundation-for-freedom.org

Subhajit Chatterjee: Chairman, Deenabandhu India.  The man who gets things done. Subhajit, a professor of Physics, is the most quietly efficient member of our team.  Heading up Deenabandhu operations in India, he is the go-to guy when its action-time.

Firoza Begum:  Secretary, Babar Ali School Trust, India.  Headmistress of a local government school, Firoza has built her own school using State funding – an arduous and exacting process requiring the strictest adherence to procedure.  She took 5 years to build her school, one room at a time, and came in under-budget.  She has extensive local contacts on all levels – including suppliers, contractors, laborers, politicians.  Most importantly the local community trusts and respects her immensely.  When we get to the construction phase she will be Deenabandhu’s primary local contact.

Manjaree Ghosh:  Project Lead, Deenabandhu.  Newcomer to the world of non-profits, but that is somewhat compensated by her immense passion for the project (or so she would like to believe).  She is the primary coordinator for all team efforts and a large part of her contribution is geared towards raising awareness for the project and just as importantly, raising funds for the school. Please contact her if you have any questions at all regarding the project.
